High School Timeline

You don’t have to wait until your senior year to start prepping for college. Here are some steps you can take right now to get a head start.


9th Grade

Get involved! Join student clubs or organizations and start building your skills.

Start exploring your career interests.

Attend an interesting summer camp.

Create a plan with your counselor to meet WVU Tech’s admissions requirements.

Fill out the online inquiry form to sign up for the WVU Tech mailing list.


10th Grade

Keep your grades up! Scholarships are awarded based on your total high school GPA.

Research scholarship opportunities and begin ACT/SAT test prep.

Talk to your school counselor about taking AP and early enrollment courses. (Protip: WVU Tech offers early enrollment courses for only $25/credit hour for residential students and $75/credit hour for non-residential students.)

11th Grade

Take an official WVU Tech campus tour, attend Discover WVU Tech or sign up for a special campus event.

Continue earning college credits in high school through WVU Tech’s early enrollment program.

Take the SAT or ACT. Our ACT code is 4536 and the SAT code is 5902

Build your resume with a part-time job or career shadowing.


12th Grade

Apply to WVU Tech beginning in August.

Consider retaking the SAT or ACT for increased scholarship opportunities.

Take an official WVU Tech campus tour, attend Discover WVU Tech or sign up for a special campus event.

Continue earning college credits in high school through WVU Tech’s early enrollment program.

Submit your FAFSA for financial aid consideration starting October 1. And be sure to include WVU Tech's school code:  003827

Work with your WVU Tech admissions counselor for help with your application and to answer any questions you might have.
