A campus within the West Virginia University system, WVU Tech serves more than 1,200 students representing more than 30 states and 20 countries.
Founded in 1895 as the Montgomery Preparatory School, WVU Tech has a rich history of academic excellence. WVU Tech currently maintains campuses in Montgomery and Beckley, West Virginia. In the fall of 2017, WVU Tech will operate entirely from the WVU Beckley Campus.
WVU Tech consists of two academic colleges: the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences and the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences. The University offers more than 40 academic programs, including 9 ABET-accredited engineering programs. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1 and an average class size of 17 students, our classes provide students with personalized attention in a supportive environment.
As a division of West Virginia University, WVU Tech is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Several academic programs, including engineering, engineering technology and nursing, hold specialized accreditation.
WVU Tech offers a vibrant student life experience more than 30 student organizations, intramural sports, on and off-campus entertainment and access to some of the nation’s best outdoor recreation, WVU Tech students are part of a rich, active college community. A variety of campus services, housing options, dining services and student success programs are available to on-campus and commuter students alike.
