Students with fewer than 24 credit hours, excluding developmental courses, must also meet first-time admission standards:

Students must either have a 3.0 high school GPA and attempted the ACT, or have both a composite ACT score of 18 (960 SAT) and a high school GPA of 2.0. In addition, students must have taken specified high school courses.*

Transfer students who are not eligible to enroll at their previous institution for disciplinary reasons (suspension or expulsion) are not eligible for admission. Students who have received any other form of disciplinary sanction from their previous institution may be admitted only after review of the conduct and circumstances that gave rise to the disciplinary sanction.

*Students with fewer than 30 transfer credits must take the orientation course, University W191, First Year Experience.

Credit Transfer: Info to Know

WVU Tech will accept a maximum of 72 semester hours of lower-division credit from two-year community and technical colleges toward a baccalaureate degree. Additional credit may be transferred from accredited four-year colleges and universities, but the major department and Registrar will determine which courses may be applicable to a particular degree. In all cases, transfer students will be required to complete at least 36 hours of credit in residence at WVU Tech prior to graduation.

Specific questions can be directed to the admissions counselor of your county or state, listed here

The Office of Admissions is not responsible for the evaluation of transfer credit. For questions or concerns about transfer credit, contact the WVU Tech Registrar ( tech-registrar-records@mail.wvu.edu or 304.929.1450).
