Area Location Information

WVU Tech is located in Beckley, West Virginia. A city of approximately 17,000 people, Beckley offers a variety of opportunities for WVU Tech students. The region is known for its scenic beauty and Appalachian culture, including world-class outdoor recreation, local arts, great food and more.

Transportation to, from and around campus

Bus

New River Transit Authority bus schedule

The Red Line has a station in front of Hogan Hall at 8:42, 10:12, 12:12 and 1:42. 

The Gold Line also picks up people not far from campus on the corner of Johnstown Rd and Powerline Drive at 9:46, 11:09, 1:09, and 2:39.  

The price to ride is $2.50 one-way and free to transfer. These lines can take you to the shopping centers around town.

Train

Amtrak runs the Cardinal Line runs through Prince Train Stop and has service on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.  Westbound trains arrive at 6:43 PM and eastbound trains arrive at 10:02 AM. The train station is about a 15 minute drive from campus. 

Airport

There is a small airport in Beckley with only one commercial airline flying in and out (Via Air).  They run daily trips to and from Charlotte and flights 3 or 4 days out of the week to other places on the west coast.

The airport in Charleston is Yeager Airport. Though small, it has flights departing and arriving all hours of the day. Shuttles to the WVU Tech campus are frequently offered at the beginning and end of the fall and spring semesters.
