Admitted Students

If you've been admitted to then Hospitality (Culinary) program, there are a few things you need to do to start your first day of classes on the right foot.



Log into the WVU Portal and Claim your MIX account

As one of the newest members of the WVU Tech family, we have created an email account for you via our Mountaineer Information Xpress (MIX) system. To access this system, you’ll need to activate your login . Activating your login will grant access to your MIX account and the WVU Portal, which allows you to register for classes, check your grades, send and receive emails, review and accept financial aid awards and packages, sign up for on-campus housing and pay your tuition and fees*. Additional info will be sent to your MIX email address, which you can access through the portal. You’ll also need to set up DUO two-factor authentication, which is a required second level of security to log into University systems. Check out the ITS site for instructions .

* Tuition and fees are usually not the only educational expenses you may have while pursuing a degree. You may have other costs such as books, supplies and living expenses. Please see the Estimate Costs and Aid webpage for how to estimate and plan for other potential expenses.


Set up a meeting with your advisor and register for classes

As a Hospitality (Culinary) student, you'll be working with Chef Devin Noor. You'll need to set up an appointment to register for classes you can now  Sign-up for a Golden Bear Registration Day.


Register for orientation

Sign-up for New Student Orientation - All new students are expected to attend.


Review the Student Health Insurance requirements (and complete the student health insurance waiver, if needed)

All WVU Tech students who are enrolled in more than 6 credit hours and international students enrolled in one or more credit hours are required to carry health insurance coverage. If you have health insurance, you can submit a student health insurance waiver form. If you do not submit this waiver, you will be charged for the student health insurance plan on your bill. Secure your parking permit

You'll need a permit to park on campus. Get started at the Office of Student Accounts.


Get your books and other needs from the bookstore

Our Barnes and Noble bookstore has everything you need online. Check out the bookstore early to get the  books you need.


Get your official student ID

Your WVU Tech ID is used for everything from grabbing lunch in the Bears Den dining hall to landing awesome discounts at local businesses and restaurants. Here's how to get yours.
