Applicants must meet the following minimum curriculum requirements:
In addition to a 2.0 High School GPA and a composite ACT score of 18 (SAT 870-critical reading and mathematics combined) or a 3.0 High School GPA, to receive consideration for admission to four year baccalaureate degree programs at the West Virginia University Institute of Technology, applicants must have successfully completed the following high school units:
- 4 units of English
- 3 units of Social Studies, including US History
- 1 unit of Art
- 2 units of Foreign Languages, two units of the same language
- 4 Units of Mathematics (Algebra I & higher)
- 3 Units of Science (all must be laboratory science)
In addition to the general requirements for admission, applicants to the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering must also obtain an ACT math score of at least 19 or a SAT math score of 460.
Students that do not meet the admission standards can be considered for conditional admission. These application are reviewed by a committee and the number of seats are limited. The committee will meet the following days to review applications for Summer and Fall 2013:
- December 3
- February 15
- May 1
NOTE: WVU Tech considers each applicant as an individual, with no limit on the number of students admitted from any given background, secondary school, state or region of the country. Meeting the minimum curriculum requirements does not, however, guarantee admission.
